Laut Pressemappe wendet sich Mellow Mark wieder den Roots-Reggae zu. Hmmm ja. Nach meinem Geschmack eher Pop-Reggae.
Egal, Hautsache gute Musik. Sehr sauber und professionel produziert und eingespielt
Das 1. Stück der EP, "Mellow Mark ist tot", welches dem Riddimleser schon durch die Beilagen-CD bekannt ist, startet mit einem St.Louis-Intro. Textlich möchte sich Mellow Mark hier gegen die Ablage in Schubladen wenden und musikalisch hat das Stück die Qualität zum Ohrwurm. YouTube-Video erhältlich.
Nummer Zwei , das Titelstück "Bye Bye Babylon", besingt ein Beziehungsproblem und ist in Kooperation mit House of Riddim entstanden. Das bürgt für Qualität. YouTube-Video erhältlich.
Das dritte Stück, sozusagen Halbzeit, mit dem Titel "Egal" besingt die Liebe zu einer Frau, dessen Umfeld gegen die Beziehung ist. Diese souligen Liebesballade wurde von der Far East Band eingespielt.
"Monopoly", das vierte Stück, eine Latin-Ska-Version des Klaus Lage Titels ist doch immer aktuell: Arbeiter werden entlassen damit der Profit sprudelt.
Zum Abschluss "Blei bei mir", ein 4:50 Duett mit Mamadee im Nyabinghi-Riddim, sehr soulig produziert. Liebe kann soooooo schön sein.
